Lifestyle. Education. Disney.

Hello All,

I hope you are all well and you are enjoying this gorgeous Spring weather (well here in Australia at least). Today I thought I'd bring you all a foundation review because I am always, always on the hunt for the perfect foundation and I know a lot of you are too.

This month Australis brought out their new Mix It - Colour Correcting Foundation. This foundation claims to conceal dark circles, correct dull skin and neutralise redness. It does this by using three different coloured pigments. The first being yellow pigments to hide dark circles, the second being mauve pigments to correct dull, lifeless skin and the third being of course the green coloured pigments to correct and hide pesky red skin. This foundation sure does claim to do a lot (a lot of fantastic things may I add) so I definitely had to put this to the test.

This foundation comes in three different shades. None of these shades have names however because what Australis essentially want you to be able to do is to mix and max the colours to create your own perfect shade. I went ahead a trailed the lightest shade available because of my very fair skin.

The colour match on my skin really didn't turn out too badly! Yes, of course it was still slightly dark for me, but with my skin colour that is always, always going to be the case, no matter what foundation I use. I was incredibly impressed with the ease of application with this foundation, it seemed to glide on to my skin seamlessly. As this foundation claims on the bottle, it did give me a natural satin finish, however, I would not say this foundation is a medium to full coverage foundation, that is one thing I don't quite agree with. I would say this foundation give you a light coverage and can be built up if required by the individual.

I took a very awkward looking selfie, un-edited and in natural light to show you guys what Australis looks like on my skin. As you can see, my dark circles are gone! I have no redness and my skin looks fairly bright and awake. Of course, as I said previously, you can still see my freckles (which I don't mind) but it does convey the fact that the foundation doesn't seem to be medium to full converge like it claims.

PROS:
Light wight, creamy application and coverage.
Contains hydrating Argan oil.
Can be built up.
Makes your skin look awake.
Contains SPF 25 which is a MUST in every foundation. MASSIVE thumbs up from me!
Not tested on animals.
Smells actually quite pleasant.

CONS:

Not medium to full coverage.
Can get oily and slip throughout the day.
I did have to powder like crazy as this is a satin finish and can appear quite shiny!
Colour selection isn't great but you can obviously mix and match.

Let me know in the comments below if this review helped you. Would you like more foundation reviews?

Speak to you all soon!

Hello there,

Today I'm doing another lifestyle post (I guess it is also fashion if you like to really match your wardrobe). If you watch me on Youtube or follow me on Instagram, you will know that I recently had a quick business-esk trip to Sydney for the weekend. I attended IMATS, had a quick visit to Benefit HQ and drinks with Benefit Australia's amazing social media manager and of course, I did a spot shopping.

It's always a struggle to pack for just a few days away, especially for us girls (come on, I know you agree). I've actually never travelled domestically by myself either in Australia or back in the UK so I've never just had hand luggage to take with me. I found the thought of packing a minimal amount in a tiny, tacky bag found in the back of my wardrobe a bit off putting, so I did some research and found Antler Luggage.

Antler Luggage is a UK luggage brand and is highly, highly regarded. When my mum found out I was getting an Antler Luggage suitcase for my travels she was incredibly jealous and impressed! Of course being British I still do have to support UK businesses as well as supporting Aussie ones.

The suitcase I settled on was the Tiber Cabin Suitcase in Silver. Antler in Australia still don't have the full range like the UK has, but they still have a fantastic array of gorgeous luggage, I found it so hard to finally settle on the Tiber.

I felt so incredibly fancy walking around Sydney airport with my quality sliver Tiber suitcase. I definitely think I was the envy of many travellers.

PROS:

  • Perfect for a business trip
  • Great for a weekend away
  • Small and versatile
  • Lightweight
  • 360 degrees wheels giving you effortless control
CONS:
  • The sleek design is gorgeous but after just one trip is is incredibly damaged. The material makes it very noticeable unfortunately.

Finally, one thing I must mention before signing off is the fantastic security system. I've never come across anything like it. The zip ends click into the coded padlock system and can only be removed by putting in your private code and pushing the lock. No more hassle with having to find out the smallest key on earth from your handbag to unlock the padlock. It is truly innovative!

To conclude, if you're in search for the best cabin appropriate suitcase to take on your next trip away, look no further. I'm blown away by the quality of Antler Luggage and the Tiber Suitcase.

As always,
Maddie x

Hello all.

This week I was lucky enough to be invited to a VIP breakfast and a private shop in the gorgeous new Cotton On Mega store in Brisbane an hour before it opened to the public. When I received the invite I was in shock, I couldn't believe my eyes! Little Miss Maddie? A VIP at the opening of Cotton On's biggest store in Australia? WHAT.

Needless to say I had an absolute blast, one of the best days I've had in a while and I loved every second of it.

When we arrived we were sent straight to the yummy breakfast provided and we were given our amazing goodie bags.

We then had a short introduction and brief from the gorgeous girls running the event and explored our awesome goody bags to find a $100 gift voucher each. I think I lost my breath a little!

We had the amazing opportunity to be the first ever people to shop in the huge MEGA store, buy ourselves an HOUR before the shop opened. It was a dream! There were also only about 7 of us too, so I felt like a celebrity having a private shop, it was brilliant.

I picked up a few (very random) things with my gift card, I think I was a bit too overwhelmed and knew I had a time limit, so I kind of didn't look very properly (does that ever happen to you?) but none the less I pick up some very essential items that I was in a need of.

A separate post will be coming with the details.

Overall I had a very memorable experience and I think you guys should definitely head down to Queen Street and check it out if you are Brisbane based! What are you doing still reading this? GO!

Love you all x

Hello all,

Finally I have gotten round to posting about Thursday's Group Show! I've had so many technical difficulties and yes.. a vlog is still coming, but it will be posted on my new vlog channel. How exciting is that?! I know you have all seen my usual micro blogging posts on Instagram, but you all asked for more. So without further a do, here is what I have to say about the Thursday Mercedes Benz Group Show.

I adored Thursday night, I viewed the cat walk from the other side on Thursday night and it actually made a huge difference so I got a lot more pictures for you guys. The designers and labels included Pistols at Dawn, George Wu, Jack Sullivan, Michelangelo, Chetcuti, Urbbana and my personal favourite Talulah.

The stand out for me had to be George Wu.. a week later and I am still dreaming about those drop dead gorgeous dresses. The models looked gracious and almost Princess like as they walked down the catwalk. It just goes to show how breathtaking the collection was, because it is STILL imbedded in my mind.

This stunning dress had to be my favourite of the night and I have been lusting after it ever since. No guesses as to why I fell in love with it, one word: DAISES! I adore the intricate detail of this dress and the flattering shape, it screams Spring.

Want to see more from George Wu?
http://www.georgewu.com.au/index.php/en/ - this link here will take you to all things George Wu and you can lust after his stunning gowns until your hearts are content.

This dress was another one of my favourites from all of the items presented on the night! The pleated skirt is bang on trend and pairing it with a lace top is just genius. It's the prefect dress for the 'Silly Season' in my eyes. Its by Jack Sullivan and you can find more here:

Thank you once again to Mercedes Benz Fashion Festival Brisbane for having me. It was seriously a week to remember.

Head to the MBFF website where you can actually view the gallery and even purchase the items shown on the catwalk: http://www.mbff.com.au/own-it.html how amazing is that?

I think I might have to do a bit of window shopping myself.

Thank you for reading guys, I hope you enjoyed seeing what it was like through my eyes. It was an incredibly well organised event and everyone should be praised for their hard work and efforts.

Love you all xx

Hello all,

I thought I'd show you my 'outfits of the night' for both of the nights I attended Mercedes Benz Fashion Festival Brisbane. Although most of you will have already seen my outfits via Instagram, I wanted to go into detail at bit more.

Monday (Myer Spring/Summer Show):

On Monday night I wore a gorgeous (and quite unique) dress by Sabo Skirt. I'm not normally someone who likes the mullet style dresses but I couldn't resist this gorgeous pattern. On my feet I wore some very inexpensive Sportgirl shoes that are super comfy for nights when you are on your feet a lot. I definitely recommend them! I left my hair natural (merely because I was in a rush, as always) but it suited the look none the less. I loved this outfit and I think it went perfectly with the Spring/Summer theme of the night. What do you think?

Thursday Group Show

Thursday night was 100% my favourite outfit! It was actually a last minute decision because the dress I was going to wear had a bit of an issue (we won't go into that). In saying that, I felt so incredibly comfortable in this look, it is completely me. The top was a gift from the lovely girls at Mink Pink and it is available at David Jones. It is a gorgeous red, oriental inspired crop top and it was very comfortable to wear. I don't normally go for red, but I think this crop will be a staple in my Spring/Summer wardrobe. The skirt.. well.. you guys know I live in it AND have it in several other colours! This gorgeous skirt is from Beginning Boutique but I'm not sure if it is still in stock.

I loved Thursday night, the George Wu collection in particular blew my mind!

I hope you guys liked seeing my OOTNs in more detail. I had the best time and can't thank Mercedes Benz Fashion Festival Brisbane enough for letting me attend and cover the event for you guys.

Love you all x

Hello Everyone,

Last week I had the fantastic opportunity to attend the Myer Spring/Summer Collection Show at the amazing Mercedes Benz Fashion Festival in Brisbane.

I attended with several fellow Bloggers and Youtubers from around Brisbane and had an absolute blast. Although it was a very chilly night, we all got warm and cosy as we huddle in the the magnificent venue - Brisbane City Hall.

After the speeches had finished the show began and my jaw dropped to the floor. Myer are really on top of their game for this season and for Summer 2014/2015, I'm pretty sure I am obsessed with almost every piece show. I took a few pictures of some of my favourite pieces and I think you guys will agree, we are in for a fantastic Summer when it comes to Fashion here in Australia.

One other thing I must mention before I go was the models fabulous hair and makeup, they looked like Greek Goddesses with their sleek wavy hair and golden faces. I'm even thinking about re-creating the look myself!

Thank you #MBFF for allowing me the opportunity to attend, I had a ball.
